What is HAPPY?

There are lots of ways to seek that happy zingy feeling.

There is the Physical Happy. This is where we make the body happy by doing things which make the body feel good. We may seek rest and repose, physical health, munchies and crunchies, thrills, sexual gratification, or a zillion other physically gratifying experiences.

Then there is Mental Happy. Oddly enough, there is a kind of happy obtainable through mental clarity, mental achievements, and mental exercises.

Next is Ego Happy. Some might call this self-esteem or self affirmation. Those who seek the Ego Happy are constantly in search of self-validating experiences and conditions. The magic here is in the comparison. As we compare ourselves to others who may manifest supposedly inferior qualities or conditions, our Ego Happy is fed and gets larger. Finally, it is not enough to be better than others, ultimately, the best Ego Happy is found in dominating others.

Finally, we find deep within us a Spiritual Happy. This is commonly the most elusive form of happiness. Why? The reason is because it is counter-intuitive to most aspects of all the other forms of happiness.

Those with spiritual happiness habitually sacrifice physical comfort by doing what is right rather than what is easiest, or the most convenient, or the most pleasurable. They also find this form of happiness is counter-intuitive to the wisdom of man, or the logic subscribed to by the natural man.

They are led by that light within them which is called the Light of Christ, or the Spirit of Christ, which directs them in all things according to their diligence and heed in obeying that light.

Those with spiritual happiness seek self affirmation from Christ, through the Light of Christ, according to their faithfulness and fidelity to that light. Conversely, they shun ego-inflating mentalities and activities.

Spiritual happiness is completely unlike any other type of happiness. With it comes a transcendent peace and reassurance, a joy and exhilaration, a divine affirmation of God’s love which cannot be adequately described with words.

Spiritual happiness is far more than a feeling. It is far more than a collection of thoughts. It is an experience constituting a divinely intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

As one pursues this path of spiritual happiness, one receives and experiences real communication and communion with Christ. This relationship culminates in the most vivid and tangible reality possible.

This reality, this eventuality, is completely possible for anyone to experience who truly desires it. Through sincere application of the Doctrine of Christ, and the Gospel of Christ, anyone can receive these blessings. The gospel really works. It is guaranteed. It cannot fail.

My prayer today is that anyone who reads this will (if they haven't already) add things up, put two and two together as to the promises contained in the scriptures, believe the scriptures, and initiate the faith required to receive these supernal blessings of spiritual happiness.
